History

Cason Lane Academy opened in 1994 as a year-round Paideia school with a focus on creative thinking and a culture of collaboration and discussion. With its central location in the Cason Lane community, CLA has a long history of community engagement and family involvement. In 2009, Cason Lane Academy became the first school in the district to implement the Farm2School program. Over time, Farm2School has expanded to include multiple garden locations both inside and outside of the building and CLA has expanded from the Paideia model to an engaging and inclusive STEAM approach to learning. Family and community engagement continues to be a foundational component of the school’s work. Cason Lane Academy has received numerous awards and recognitions over the years, including being recognized as a TN Reward School for 2018-2019 and a Gold Model of Demonstration School for RTI2-B in 2020-2021.
